Vitamine C chiraliteit

Wij doen ons PWS over het verschil tussen synthetische en natuurlijke vitamine C en dan met name over het stereo chemische verschil, synthetische vitamine C (D-isoascorbinezuur) is linksdraaiend en natuurlijke vitamine C (L-ascorbinezuur) is rechtsdraaiend. D-isoascorbinezuur heeft geen/weinig vitamine activiteit in het lichaam. Wij willen zelf een interne verestering uitvoeren met 2,3,4,5,6-hydroxyhex-2-eenzuur om zo ascorbinezuur te creëren en vervolgens aan te tonen dat de twee stereoisomeren daadwerkelijk ontstaan bij synthese. Is dit mogelijk en zo ja, hoe kunnen we dit het beste aanpakken?

Het is volgens mij niet heel makkelijk om zelf vitamine C te synthetiseren. Wat je wel kan doen is de chiraliteit bepalen van natuurlijk vitamine C en synthetisch vitamine C. Dit kan je doen met behulp van licht. Dit experiment staat beschreven in dit document op pagina 5. Hopelijk kunnen jullie daar wat mee!
